Phodaniche Varan (Tempered Dal)


Ingredients:

2 cups washed and soaked tuvar dal
1 small onion finely chopped
1 small tomato finely chopped
2 garlic pods finely chopped
6-7 curry leaves
1 tspn mustard seeds
1 tspn cumin seeds
a pinch of asafoetida
2-3 green chillies chopped
1/2 tspn turmeric powder
1 tblspn pure ghee

Procedure:

Cook tuvar dal in pressure cooker until 3-4 whistles.
Heat pure ghee in vessel and add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Now add asafoetida, curry leaves, green chillies and chopped garlic and saute.
Now add chopped onion, tomato and salt .
Mix well and cook for sometime.
Now add turmeric powder and cooked dal with littel water and bring it to boil.
Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice .
