Malvani Fish Curry




Ingredients:

4-5 pieces of Pomfret / Surmai (King Fish)
1 cup fresh grated coconut
1 medium onion finely chopped
2-3 garlics cloves
3-4 kokum
1 tblspn coriander seeds
5-6 byadgi or sankheshwari chillies (u can reduce amount of chillies according to your taste)
salt to taste
1 tspn garam masala (Optional)
Oil
6-7 Tirphal , remove seed and soak in water, crush in 1 tbl spn of water, strain and add to masala. (Optional)






Procedure:

Clean and rinse fish pieces and apply little turmeric and salt.
Soak coriander seeds and red chillies in warm water for about 30 minutes.
Grind grated coconut along with garlic,coriander seeds+ red chillies, chopped onion to a fine paste. (Keep 1 tblspn of onion aside)  



Ready masala for curry.





Heat oil in heavy-bottomed vessel and saute 1 tblspn of onion till it is soft and pink.





Now add masala paste and saute well .

                                 



Add water to required consistency and bring it to boil.
Now add fish pieces, kokum and garam masala and let it cook for about 10 minutes.


Now add Tirphal water to it and cook for about 4-5 minutes.
Granish with coriander leaves and serve hot with chapati, steamed rice.
